Trinity ride page 2
I Don't remember where we ate but it was the best BBQ in town.. sigh.. you get spoiled living in Texas. Every town has at least one great brisket joint. I had a grilled ham and cheese and Andy had a pair of chopped bbq sandwiches. i traded half for one and it wasn't bad, and it wasn't expensive. but Texas brisket could whip its butt.
the obligatory road shot.
Off the 285 in Carlsbad we got on 82 and rolled through Artesia. Everybody there was smiling. 2 huge oil companys in town and oil at $57 a barrel, i guess they all think they hit the lottery.
we hit a fork in the road and found the first great road of the weekend.

24 . its a park road but i don't remember which park. I think most of this area is Lincoln park. probably what it was. It's not real technical but has great elevation changes, curves, scenery, zero traffic. very nice.

Andy t

gotta love those connies.

Andy is the spec approaching the left hander down the hill.
when we got to the bottom we looked up and saw a pretty good [8-10] herd of deer moving along the side hill just below the road we'd just ridden. We just stopped to get a drink and one of the few vehicles we saw, stopped and asked if we were all right.. its that kinda place.
I think this is when we finally made it to Cloudcroft. looking towards Alamogordo. We decided to turn around gas up and go the other way.

244 was another great road but i'd been in the saddle for 11 hours already so i was starting to get distracted by helmet neck, monkey butt, concours hand and whatever else gets to one after a long long ride. It ran into Ruidoso where i nearly sideswiped a blazer. [ just cause you're tired doesn't mean you can stop checking your mirrors.] Didn't take any pics in Ruidoso. big casino there. lots of people.
this is at the bottom of 37 we took out of Ruidoso. Its about here when we decided we we're getting a hotel instead of camping.

Blasted across 380 to Socorro and even at 85+ we got some of the best mileage of the day. not fighting the wind i guess.
